Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!
Again this year at the 30th Avenue School, the Q300 PTA is implementing a direct appeal campaign. Instead of taking time away from academics by asking students to sell things we are asking each family for a tax-deductible, monetary donation to the Q300 PTA.
Direct Appeal is a program where each family is asked to make a tax-deductible, charitable donation to the Q300 PTA to support educational programs, teaching assistants, social activities and other programs that enhance your students’ experience. Direct Appeal eliminates the need for fundraisers that take time away from academics by asking students to sell things. The Q300 PTA Direct Appeal accounted for 70% of the monies raised during the 2015-2016 school year.
The ongoing efforts that tax-deductible, charitable donations made by our Q300 families fund include these recently funded programs at the 30th Avenue school. Additional detail can be found in the 2016-2017 Direct Appeal FAQs.
Enrichment programs taught by groups such as the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater; Art House Astoria; Brooklyn Conservatory of Music; and Center for Architecture; and one teaching assistant for each kindergarten, first and second grade class; as well as one teaching assistant for the third grade.
Enrichment programs taught by groups such as the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater; Art House Astoria; Brooklyn Conservatory of Music; Class sets of 30 Chromebooks; laptop storage/charging carts; library books; Lego robotic kits; microscopes; gym equipment and storage bins; Model UN materials; and art installation materials; and support school trips and the inaugural 8th grade graduation.
In each of the last two years, 78% of Q300 families participated in the Direct Appeal fundraising effort. The PTAs goal for this school year is to increase the number of families participating in the Direct Appeal campaign. This year, to support the services, programs and staff listed above, the Q300 PTA asks each family for a suggested, tax deductible contribution, of $1,500 per student in grades K-3 and $1,000 per student in grades 5-8 to ensure ongoing support of programs such as those listed above. Every gift, regardless of size, enables the PTA to keep these valuable programs available.
